About the bakery

The Fresh Bake is a directory of new products: startups, side projects and small apps, straight out of the oven. The newest bakes sit on the homepage, and every older day keeps its own page, stacked A to Z.

How listings get here

Some we find ourselves, by looking around the public web for products people have just launched. We read the product's own website for its name and a short description. Others are put in the oven by their makers. Anyone can submit a product for free.

The three kinds of loaf

• Unclaimed listings were found by us, with a plain name and up to 70 characters taken from the site. We haven't reviewed them and don't vouch for them.
• Claimed listings have been submitted or claimed by someone who confirmed an email address. They get a bold name and up to 200 characters. Claiming a listing needs an address on its own domain.
• Super fresh listings are paid for, at US$6 a month. They get a golden row, rising steam and a turn on the pastries shelf. That's advertising: paying doesn't change a listing's date or its place in the A to Z.

The kitchen

Our Head Baker, Sous Chef, Executive Pastry Chef, Artisan Baker, Confiseur and Glacier are a bit of fun, not real people. When a paid listing says one of them recommends it, that's part of the joke and part of the advertisement, not an independent review. Do your own checks before you buy or sign up for anything you find here.
